I STRONGLY believe that everyone needs to read books.. especially books that make you feel like you are learning ways to better yourself. If you don’t like to read about self help or The law of attraction like I do, you could still read about a certain trade, hobby, business, etc.. ANYTHING that teaches you something or sparks new thoughts in your mind, makes you more valuable in life. Life is all about value. We don’t necessarily get paid for our time more than we do our value. Expanding your mind, beliefs, or talents provides SO much power to your existence. With that said, here is a list of my top 4 books that have helped me overcome a lot of self-doubt and uncertainty:
- The Secret by Rhonda Byrne – This was my first Law of Attraction book. It was based off the Gospel of Matthew: Matthew 21:22: “And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.” I must admit that as a newbie to the whole idea, after I read the book I thought I could just want something and “think” it into existence, without necessarily clearing out any of my mental blockages. The mind has a conscious and a sub-conscious. If BOTH aren’t “treated” then the Law of Attraction will make you feel frustrated and easily defeated. With that said, it is a great introduction to the whole concept, and if I had continued to research the ideas, I would have had a different experience. I still thank this book for coming into my life.
- The Power of I AM by Joel Osteen – This one made me realize how often I used the words I AM in a negative connotation. When I read this book I received a little light bulb moment; The Law of Attraction had not been working because although I was trying to THINK positive thoughts, I outwardly spoke words which contradicted everything else. This book also brought prayer into my life. I realized that for a long time I had forgotten to pray. Joel mentions a lot of Bible verses and I must admit I am not a church goer nor do I believe in only ONE Religion.. BUT, the references to God made me Pray and as I started to Pray I felt better! I realized that God started sending me signs. To this day I mention quite often, “God talks to me“.. or, “God talked to me today” because the communication I receive is SO evident. When I listen, I hear my messages. The power of I AM made me observe my spoken words and brought me closer to God which as a result, made me feel optimistic.. and that’s a step in the right direction!
- *Wishes Fulfilled: Mastering the Art of Manifesting by Dr. Wayne Dyer – This one was my FAVORITe. This book was a turning point for me. Let me start off by saying that I had gotten the idea of purchasing a home when my sister-in-law mentioned to me that even if my credit wasn’t great and we didn’t have ANY money for a down payment, that starting to look or purchasing a fixer upper would be a step up for us. We were living in a very tiny house which was suffocating us. We began by meeting with a mortgage company to see what we would get approved for. They approved us for $190k max. The area we wanted to move to at the time didn’t have anything in that price range. I decided to start reading this book with hope that my negative mindset would shift again (YES, I need regular “program updating” to stay positive – I’ve accepted that!). I read the book in about a week, made a vision board, and decided that we were going to purchase a home to OUR LIKING. Our current agent suggested we reach out to another mortgage company and ask them what we would be approved for “just to compare”. Well, within a few weeks of being approved for $190k (max) we were approved for $500k. Same credit, same money in the bank, same $0 for down payment (at the time). You know what was different? Our Vibration – our mindset. The Law of Attraction really does work. Hence, why this was my favorite book. I recommend it. ANYTHING you want is possible.
- Take Control of Your Life by Mel Robbins – (audio book). So, as I had mentioned in my first post I believe, I had been all about the law of attraction, got my home which is what I really wanted at the time, and then I got comfortable. I stopped “practicing“. This past year I had been completely ignoring my daily train of thought and fell into negativity overdrive. Things got from bad to worse with the business. It was then that I decided I NEEDED to go back to what makes me feel good. I reached out to a friend who suggested this audio book. I listened to it every morning after I dropped my daughter off at school or whenever I had a longer commute. THIS LADY KNOWS HER STUFF! I began taking action because of her and realized that I am so much more than all the BS around me. The Law of Attraction doesn’t take so much hard physical effort but it does take MENTAL effort. Daily. Without fail. Once your mind starts to focus and you analyze yourself, you realize what it is you have to PHYSICALLY do. By changing my mentality I began to take more control of my current situations. I start my days Monday through Friday like this thanks to Mel: alarm goes off and I think, “5, 4, 3, 2, 1 – Make it happen.” As soon as my eyes open I verbally say 5 things I am grateful for, and I am up. I am not going to lie, that ONE minute in the morning has changed my day SO drastically!! It’s insane how thoughts make feelings and feelings manifest outwardly. This is definitely an audio book that EVERYONE could benefit from. I promise.
I am currently reading THE VORTEX by Esther and Jerry Hicks. I will absolutely have some fun interesting things to mention about this one! Aside from these 4 books, I’ve been listening to a lot on YouTube. One of my next posts will be about my favorite YouTube subscriptions.
I’d love to know if anyone has read these? What are your thoughts/comments? Also, do you have any recommendations for me?
XoXo
